SA2 is a growing community of artists, skinners, coders, programmers and just plain folks who really, really like customizing their desktops! SkinArtistry2 is the reincarnation of Skinartistry,a site devoted to skinning and learning how to skin developed by Bones 2112. Bones may have retired from running the site, but the spirit of community he inspired in all of us remains!
Do you have to be a skinner to be part of the SA2 Community?
Absolutely not! Our members come from all walks of life, and from everywhere around the globe. Some of us skin, others just love to use skins!
For those of us who do skin, our common desire to share ideas, to learn various applications , to make great skins and just have fun while doing it is not only what brought us all here - it is what keeps us here.
What can I find here that I can't at the larger sites?
What sets us apart is that we provide a community that not only provides top quality skins, wallpapers and the like, but also excells in mentoring in a constructive, positive manner. Mentoring at SA2 is not just via the fourms, but also thru our workshop where all skinners, beginners and experienced alike, can upload their work for testing, help and smoothing out the rough spots as well as encouraging learning by doing through participation in Community Projects.

With the new year about to swoop down upon us, I thought it would be a good idea to get a jump on one of my New Year resolutions. One of them is to promote what Skinartistry is all about and that is 'you'. You the 'skinner' , whether noob or accomplished. So, I am taking suggestions on what it is you would like to see in my posts from Terrapin Station.
Tutorials : What would you like to see? Technical stuff on skinning? How-to's on Rainy's? Photoshop effects? Fractal fun? What's your skinning addiction?

This Thanksgiving weekend a lot happened in the world. I'd like to focus on a few of the more positive things.
You can always count on Al Roker to take your mind off whatever is stressing you out. Myself, I prefer to snap the head off first then the other limbs, saving the buttons for last, but to each their own.
Incase you weren't aware, this is the 25th anniversary of 'A Christmas Story' ! There's a nice little article on it here.
This is a pic of the actual house where the movie was filmed. I've looked and zoomed to no end, but I can't find that lamp. "Fa ra ra ra ra - ra ra ra ra!"

Unfortunately, I was unable to find out who submitted last week's 'Skin This' picture. Obviously, the rest of you are willing to cover up for the malicious troublemaker. That's fine. I see how it is. I read ya'.
I'm a big turtle and capable of overcoming any ill will I might have towards the anonymous artist. I choose to just move on as if it never happened. I'm above stooping to their level. I have a responsibility here and a level of decorum to maintain. There will be no acts of vengeance or retribution from this turtle.
In a totally unrelated News Item, it has been announced that there is interest in another movie version of 'He-Man and the Masters of the Universe'. Kung Fu Panda director John Stevenson is vying to sit in the director's chair atop Castle Grayskull. According to Latino Review, a long list of directors, including Doug Liman and Bryan Singer, have passed on the project and eventually Warner Brothers passed on the Silver Studios picture, much to the dismay of Mattel. I came across this little post yesterday. "The 7 Most Impressive (And Depressing) Geek Collections" As interesting as it was, nothing truly impressed or shocked me. I realized that the folks here at SA could do much better in the way of weird and truly off the wall.

SAM's Naval Fluff Collection
For me, it's Naval Fluff. Buddha Fuzz. Tummy Tinsel. Or, as is often referred to, Belly -Button Lint. And not just my own. No sir. I collect random samples from every one I can. Sometimes I even get their consent. Well, sort of get their consent. It sounds like a 'yeah' but it's hard to tell when someone's sleeping. Or really, really drunk on Bombay Sapphire. Or drugged. (Sorry, Bandit.)
